Math is simply analyzing, sorting, and thinking. The simple basics within math are the foundation. Often, those who struggle with math have not mastered a concept. This then impacts every future math interaction as well as the student's confidence in math. I have always loved math. I have a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the now University of Memphis. Over the years, I have worked with those who have had difficulties with math skills. I've tutored college algebra for adults who returned to college. I've tutored elementary students in math. I've taught math at the kindergarten level, the 7th grade level, and at the high school level with algebra. I've taught my own daughter as I homeschooled her for two years. She went from disliking math to confidently mastering the skills and claiming math was her favorite subject.I credit this success story to returning her to the basic math skills and working on perfecting those. I have found this is also the case for those who struggle with reading where the basics must be reviewed and perfected. Once you perfect the basic principles in math, and in reading, you have the ability to be successful in any subject and aspect of your life. I also enjoy being outside, spending time in my garden, and making crafts.
